My Days in Shanghai

Hi, I am Emma G.   These are my days in Shanghai.

My church in Shanghai.

I am having fun in Shanghai  I love riding my  bike.  I like playing outside and riding my scooter.  Sometimes I ride my dad's  scooter.  Daddy bought mama a new scooter and she is still trying to get use to it.  Once she can drive it, we will get to ride on it with her.  On  Sunday, we go to sunday school. I love going to Sunday School.  We have activities, sing songs, and earn tokens.

We went to some new restaurants with ice cream and chocolate fountains. My favorite restaurant is Big Bamboo on Hong Mei Lu pedestrian walk. They have a place to play when you get done eating.   It is right next to Pearl City.  I like to go shopping at Pearl City. I bought Barbie and the Pop Star and The Lorax on my last trip.

I really like to watch Nickelodeon.  I like to watch Ultimate Cake Off on TLC on Wednesday nights. I cooked my dad a birthday cake on his birthday. I like to help my mom cook dinner.    We have a gas stove to I have to be really careful not to get my hair in the fire.  I make Christmas ornaments with my mama, too. I also like to paint.

My brother is going to be a Roman soldier for Halloweeen.  I like playing with my his sword and shield.  I love my brother so much.  He is funny. We like to tell each other jokes a lot.

Robert coming off the big jumpy thing at the Sculpture park.
We go to visit lots of different places in Shanghai.  We went to the Pearl Tower and we saw the riverboats.  We went to Nanjing Road and bought some new shoes.  I love my new shoes.  We went to the Sculpture park.  We had so much fun.  We could climb on the sculptures and get our pictures made.  There was a beach, round boats, and a big treehouse.  We played in the splash pad and jumped on the big jumpy.   I liked everything except all the walking.  I would like to go to the zoo one day.

Our first subway ride

When Jacky can't take us places, we take taxis and the subway.  I think subways are fun.  We don't ride them very often but I like taking them to places in Shanghai.  We have to take a taxi to get to the subway station.

Planting a peach seed in the backyard

I've made new friends here, too.  I like to play with Gracie, Emily, Emma B., Katti, Carolina, Hamesh, Astol, Sunyi, Yasmine, Porsche, Christopher, and Hannah.  We like to draw pictures, play outside on the playground, sword fight, ride bikes, jump on the trampoline, and play Barbies. I like to play on Jumpstart on the computer, too.

Books I am reading:  Night Watch, Junie B. First Grader:  Aloha ha ha, Junie B. Jones is Almost a Flower Girl, Lunch!, and Dress Up Paper Dolls.

Hi, I'm Emma G.

Hi, I am Emma G. and I am in Grade One - Red.  There are fourteen children in my class.  My school is Western International School (WISS) and my teachers are nice.   I get to go swimming on Tuesdays and I love swimming.  We learn Chinese every day.  I've learned words like lao shi (teacher) and xiaopengyou (children).  We have home work every night.  I am really excited about having home work.  I ride my bike to school while the weather is nice.  Once it starts getting cold I will ride the bus to school.

I love going to WISS International School.  There are a lot of children from different countries.  We have lots of fun.  There is Show and Tell on Monday and we get to buy snacks at the Cafe.  The donuts and slushies are my favorite things to get at the Cafe.  We get to watch Brain POP! Jr. and play on the Mathletics website. On Friday, we have spelling work and we write sentences in our spelling books.  I even get to take piano lessons at school.  We are going to have Halloween party in a few weeks.  Sometimes I see my brother at recess.  He is in grade one also.

In my old school we could wear any clothes that we wanted but I have to wear a uniform at WISS.  We wear blue shirts with a WISS tiger on them and I wear a skirt.  I use to go to school in Mississippi.  Now I go to school in Shanghai.

Some books I like to read are Birthday Balloons, Blue Sue, Fancy Nancy's Elegant Easter, and No, David!
